How do I stake BNB?

Getting started with staking

Staking is a pretty simple as process — instead of just keeping your BNB deposit on your balance, you're choosing to stake it and earn interest. Where does the interest come from, though? 

By delegating your BNB to a validator of your choice, you're expressing your trust in them, which makes them more powerful on the BNB blockchain. As validators get paid for confirming blockchain transactions, they in turn pay back to those who supported them. That's how you earn your rewards! By staking your BNB in Atomic Wallet, you're choosing us as your validator.

  • You’ll have to pay a network fee every time you want to stake or unstake your BNB. That's why we strongly recommend against staking all your funds. Make sure to leave a small BNB amount on your available balance so that you can pay the fees. Otherwise, you won’t be able to unstake your deposit later on. The fees are charged by the BNB blockchain directly. The minimum transaction fee is 0.002 BNB.   • Your deposit will be locked. Your BNB deposit will be frozen throughout the staking period. This means your staked BNB won’t be counted towards your available balance. Also, you won’t be able to transfer or swap them. 
  • Unstaking does not happen immediately. Unstaking takes approximately 7 days to complete. Once you hit the Unstake button, your deposit will be frozen for the unstaking period. 
  • Staking rewards. You'll start earning your BNB staking rewards in 3 days after your deposit was staked. Your rewards are automatically added to your available balance. 
  • Minimum amount for staking is 1 BNB. You cannot stake less than 1 BNB. 
  • Minimum amount for unstaking is 1 BNB. You cannot unstake less than 1 BNB. When unstaking, please make sure that you do not leave any amount that is less than 1 BNB with the validator. The Binance Chain network has a 1 BNB requirement when submitting transactions. You can either unstake all (leaving 0 BNB with the validator) or unstake all but 1 BNB (leaving 1 BNB with the validator). You cannot leave, let's say, 0.5 BNB with the validator. 

How to stake BNB in your Atomic Wallet app

  1. Click Staking on the left sidebar.
  2. Select BNB. 

  3. Click  Stake BNB. 

  4. Decide on the amount to stake.

    Tip: We strongly recommend not to stake all your BNB, as you won't be able to unstake your deposit later on otherwise.

    You'll be charged a network fee by the BNB blockchain for both staking and unstaking your deposit. The staking fee will automatically be deducted from the amount you're staking. We'd suggest you leave the same amount on your balance so that you can pay the fee once you decide to unstake your BNB. 

  5. Enter your password and click Confirm. 
  6. Voilà, your BNB deposit is now staked! Remember, however, that it will take several epochs until your funds are fully staked. Relax and wait for your first rewards to arrive. 
  1. Select the Staking tab in the bottom panel. 
  2. Tap BNB. 

  3. Tap Stake. 

  4. Decide on the amount to stake. 

    Tip: We strongly recommend not to stake all your BNB, as you won't be able to unstake your deposit later on otherwise.

    You'll be charged a network fee by the BNB blockchain for both staking and unstaking your deposit. The staking fee will automatically be deducted from the amount you're staking. We recommend you leave the same amount on your balance so that you can pay the fee once you decide to unstake your BNB. 

  5. Enter your password and tap Confirm. 

  6. Voilà, your BNB deposit is now staked! Remember, however, that it will take several epochs until your funds are fully staked. Relax and wait for your first rewards to arrive. 

BNB staking rewards

You'll receive your first staking rewards in 3 days after staking your deposit. 

After that, your rewards will arrive every day, at UTC 00:00. There's no need to claim them, as they'll automatically be added to your available balance.

How to unstake your BNB 

  1. Select BNB in the Staking tab.
  2. Select Unstake. 
  3. Enter the amount you want to unstake and select Unstake. Unstaking time starts on the next day UTC 00:00 Please note that unstaking takes 7 days. 

In several days, your BNB will appear under Available for withdrawal. Just select Withdraw to have your coins deposited to your BNB address.
