Troubleshooting IOTA token display

You may find that your IOTA balance is not displaying correctly in Atomic Wallet — showing as zero, not updating after a transaction, or appearing incorrect. In most cases this is a display or synchronization issue rather than a loss of funds. Your IOTA is stored on the blockchain, and Atomic Wallet is simply an interface to view and manage it.

Reassurance first: A missing or incorrect IOTA balance is almost always a display or connection issue, not lost funds. If your transaction is confirmed on the network, your IOTA is safe on-chain regardless of what the app shows.

Why your IOTA balance might not display

  • Node or network connectivity. If the wallet can't reach the IOTA node, your balance won't update. Your funds remain safe on-chain.
  • Incomplete synchronization. The wallet may not have fully synced with the IOTA network, showing an outdated balance.
  • Unstable internet connection. A weak or interrupted connection can prevent the wallet from syncing.
  • Pending transaction. A recent deposit may still be confirming on the network and won't appear until it's finalized.
  • Outdated app version. An older version of Atomic Wallet can have connectivity or display issues.

Step 1: Check network status and connection

Since IOTA display issues are usually connectivity-related, start here.

  1. Confirm your internet connection is stable. Try switching between Wi-Fi and mobile data to rule out a local network issue.
  2. Restart your router or modem if your connection seems unreliable.
  3. Make sure no firewall or VPN is interfering with the wallet's connection to the IOTA network. If you use a VPN, try temporarily disabling it.

Step 2: Refresh your IOTA balance

Once your connection is stable, refresh the wallet to force it to re-sync with the network.

  • Refresh: in your IOTA wallet, pull down on the screen (mobile) or use the refresh icon (desktop) to manually update the balance.
  • Restart the app: fully close and reopen Atomic Wallet to trigger a re-synchronization.
  • Update the app: make sure you're running the latest version, as outdated versions can cause sync issues.
  • Allow time to sync: after a restart or update, give the wallet a little time to finish scanning the network before checking again.

Step 3: Re-add the IOTA asset

If the balance still isn't showing correctly, removing and re-adding the IOTA asset can clear a display glitch.

  1. In your assets list, use the asset management or "Manage assets" option to hide or remove IOTA from view.
  2. Then add IOTA back to your assets list.
  3. Allow the wallet to re-sync the IOTA balance from the network.

Note: Removing an asset from your view never deletes your funds — your IOTA stays on the blockchain, tied to your wallet's keys. Re-adding the asset simply tells the app to display and re-scan it again.

A note on sending and receiving IOTA

When sending or receiving IOTA, always make sure the sending and receiving wallets are on the same, compatible IOTA network. Sending IOTA between incompatible networks or address types can result in funds that don't appear where you expect them.

  • Double-check that any external wallet or exchange you're sending to or from supports the same IOTA network as Atomic Wallet.
  • Always verify the full receiving address, character by character, before sending.
  • If you're unsure about network compatibility, send a small test amount first before moving a larger balance.

Contacting support

If none of the steps above resolve the issue, contact Atomic Wallet support at support@atomicwallet.io. Please include:

  • Your IOTA receiving address.
  • The transaction ID (hash) of any deposit you're expecting, if available.
  • A description of the issue and when it started.
  • Your app version and device type.
  • A summary of the troubleshooting steps you've already tried.

What Atomic Wallet can and cannot do

Atomic Wallet can:

  • Help troubleshoot IOTA display and synchronization issues within the app.
  • Guide you through refreshing balances and re-adding the IOTA asset.
  • Help you check whether a deposit has been confirmed on the network.

Atomic Wallet cannot:

  • Directly change your IOTA balance on the blockchain — your funds are secured on-chain.
  • Recover funds sent to an incorrect address or across incompatible networks.
  • Reverse confirmed IOTA transactions.
  • Access or move your funds. Your keys and backup phrase are known only to you.
