Troubleshooting Passcode Issues
If the passcode you're entering isn't being accepted, you won't be able to view your balances, send funds, or use any other wallet features. This guide walks through how to resolve it.

Why your passcode might not be accepted
- Incorrect entry. The most frequent cause is a simple typo — wrong digits or keys.
- Forgotten passcode. You may have forgotten the passcode you set, or be confusing it with one from another app.
- Keyboard issues. On mobile, a changed keyboard layout or auto-correct could be altering your input. On desktop, a different keyboard layout might be active.
- Outdated app version. Less commonly, an outdated app can cause unexpected behavior.
- Corrupted app data. In rare cases, corrupted local data on your device can interfere with passcode recognition.
Important: Your passcode is stored only on your device — Atomic Wallet cannot see, reset, or recover it. If you can't remember it, the only way back in is to restore your wallet with your 12-word backup phrase. Make sure you have it before going further.
Step 1: Carefully re-enter your passcode
- Double-check for typos — enter the passcode slowly and deliberately.
- If your passcode contains letters (rare for Atomic Wallet), make sure Caps Lock is off.
- On mobile, check that no unusual keyboard layout or auto-correction feature is interfering.
- Try entering it a few times, paying close attention to each digit.
Step 2: If you've forgotten your passcode
Atomic Wallet is non-custodial — your passcode is stored only on your device, and we have no access to it. The only way to regain access is to restore your wallet using your 12-word backup phrase.
To restore:
- Uninstall the Atomic Wallet application from your device.
- Reinstall it from the official website or app store.
- When prompted, select Restore from backup (or Restore).
- Carefully enter your 12-word backup phrase in the correct order, with a single space between each word.
- Create a brand new passcode. Choose a strong, memorable one and write it down in a secure, offline location.
Before you uninstall: Confirm you have your exact 12-word backup phrase written down and correct. Without it, restoring is impossible and your funds will be permanently inaccessible. Never share your backup phrase with anyone, and only download Atomic Wallet from the official website or app store.
Step 3: If it's still not accepted
If you're certain you remember the correct passcode but it still won't work:
- Update the app. Make sure you're running the latest version — check your app store or the official Atomic Wallet website.
- Restart your device. A simple restart can clear temporary software glitches.
- Restore your wallet. If the issue persists after updating and restarting, the most reliable solution is to restore your wallet using your 12-word backup phrase, as described in Step 2. This lets you set a new passcode and regain access.

- Access your funds or move them on your behalf.
- Know your passcode or verify whether the one you're entering is correct.
