How do I stake MON?

Stake your MON with Atomic Wallet to earn passive rewards! In this article, we’ll walk you through everything you need to know about staking on the Monad network.

Overview

Staking allows you to earn rewards by participating in the Monad network validation process.

Learn more about staking basics.

Atomic Wallet is a non-custodial interface. This means:

  • You fully control your funds;
  • All operations happen on-chain;
  • Atomic Wallet does not store or access your assets.

Monad is a high-performance EVM-compatible blockchain where the native token (MON) is used for staking and securing the network.

Network parameters

Parameters may change as the network evolves.

  • Minimum stake: depends on validator requirements;
  • Unbonding period: ~1–3 days (network-defined);
  • Reward frequency: distributed per epoch;
  • Fees: paid in MON for staking/unstaking transactions;
  • Slashing: possible depending on validator behavior.

How staking works on Monad

Monad uses a Proof-of-Stake model:

  • Validators are selected based on total stake;
  • Delegators support validators without transferring ownership;
  • Rewards are generated from block production and network fees.

Your stake:

  • Becomes active after network confirmation (could take one or more epochs depending on the network);
  • Generates rewards over time;
  • Can be unstaked with a delay (unbonding period).

How to stake

  1. Open Atomic Wallet;
  2. Select MON;
  3. Click Stake;
  4. Choose a validator;
  5. Enter amount;
  6. Confirm transaction.

General process is similar across wallets: connect → choose validator → delegate.

How to unstake

  1. Open Atomic Wallet;
  2. Go to the staking section;
  3. Select your active stake;
  4. Click Unstake;
  5. Confirm the transaction.

What happens after unstaking

  • Your funds enter the unbonding period;
  • During this time:
    • Funds are locked;
    • Rewards are NOT generated.

Unbonding period

The unbonding period is defined by the network.

Typically:

  • Lasts ~1–3 days (may vary);
  • Cannot be accelerated or canceled.

Important notes

  • You may stop earning rewards immediately after unstaking;
  • Funds cannot be used until the unbonding period ends;
  • Some networks may apply penalties depending on validator behavior.

How to manage your stake

Where to see rewards

  • In the staking interface (if supported);
  • Or via block explorer.

Claiming rewards

  • Rewards are either distributed automatically or require manual claiming depending on the staking implementation.

Restake / compound

  • May not be supported in all interfaces.

Redelegation

  • May require unstaking first.

Risks

  • Validator risk: low uptime reduces rewards;
  • Unbonding delay: funds locked during unstaking;
  • Slashing risk: validator penalties may affect rewards;
  • Missed rewards: due to validator performance.

How to check via explorer

You can verify staking activity using the Monad explorer: https://monadscan.com/

  1. Enter your wallet address;
  2. Check:
  • Delegated balance;
  • Rewards;
  • Transaction history.

Troubleshooting

Staking failed

  • Ensure sufficient MON for fees;
  • Retry later.

Rewards not visible

  • Check via explorer;
  • Rewards update per epoch.

Balance incorrect

  • Restart app;
  • Try using a VPN (this can help if your connection to blockchain nodes is unstable or restricted);
  • Verify via explorer.

Security tips

  • Never share your 12-word backup phrase;
  • Never share private keys;
  • Atomic Wallet cannot restore access.
