Troubleshooting 'Retry in 5 minutes' errors for specific asset withdrawals
You may sometimes encounter a "Retry" error message when trying to send or swap a specific cryptocurrency in Atomic Wallet, or the transaction may fail to process. If this happens with only one particular coin or token — not all your assets — this guide will help you identify the cause and resolve it.

Why a "Retry" error happens for a specific asset
Several factors can cause a "Retry" error for one particular asset:
- Network congestion. The blockchain network for that asset (e.g., Ethereum for ERC-20 tokens, or the Bitcoin network) may be experiencing high traffic, leading to delays or rejections.
- Temporary node issues. Atomic Wallet relies on blockchain nodes to process transactions. A temporary issue with a node for that asset's blockchain can prevent a transaction from going through.
- Asset-specific processing delays. Some blockchains process transactions more slowly, or have specific requirements that can cause delays or failures if not met.
- Insufficient network fees. Not having enough of the native coin for fees (e.g., not enough ETH for an ERC-20 transaction) can sometimes appear as a retry or general failure.
- Wallet synchronization issues. Occasionally, your wallet's local data for a specific asset may be out of sync with the blockchain.
- Incorrect transaction details. Missing or incorrect destination tags/memos (for assets like XRP, BNB, XLM) or sending to an unsupported address type can cause rejections.
Step 1: General troubleshooting
- Check your internet connection to ensure it is stable.
- Restart your Atomic Wallet application.
- Make sure Atomic Wallet is updated to the latest version. Outdated versions can have compatibility issues.
- Wait a few minutes or hours and try the transaction again. Temporary network or node issues often resolve themselves.
Step 2: Asset-specific checks
For XRP, BNB, XLM, and similar assets:
- Verify that you have included the correct Destination Tag or Memo if the recipient requires one. Sending without it, or with an incorrect one, can cause the transaction to fail or funds to be lost.
- Ensure your XRP balance is above the network reserve requirement (1 XRP) in addition to the amount you wish to send.
For USDT (ERC-20, TRC-20) and other tokens:
- Make sure you have enough of the native coin of the blockchain to cover network fees. For ERC-20 USDT you need ETH; for TRC-20 USDT you need TRX. Without it, the transaction will fail.
- Check the status of the specific blockchain (e.g., Etherscan for Ethereum, Tronscan for Tron) for any reported congestion or outages.
For all assets:
- Confirm the recipient address is correct and supports the specific asset you are sending.
- Check the asset's official blockchain explorer for any widespread network issues.
Most common cause: For tokens like USDT, the error is very often due to not having the native coin for fees. An ERC-20 transaction needs ETH in the same wallet; a TRC-20 transaction needs TRX. Check this first.
Step 3: Advanced wallet troubleshooting
If the issue persists, try resyncing the problematic asset:
- Go to the Settings tab in Atomic Wallet, then Wallets.
- Find the problematic asset, click on it, and look for an option to Resync or Re-index the wallet for that asset.
- If that option is not available, removing and re-adding the asset can sometimes help — but only after ensuring you have your 12-word backup phrase securely stored offline.
Step 4: Contact support
If you have followed all the steps above and the "Retry" error persists, please contact Atomic Wallet support at support@atomicwallet.io with the following details:
- The specific asset you are trying to send or exchange.
- The exact error message you are receiving.
- A screenshot of the error.
- The transaction ID (if one was generated) or the destination address.
- A brief description of the steps you have already taken.
What Atomic Wallet can and cannot do
Atomic Wallet can:
- Help you troubleshoot issues related to the wallet application itself.
- Guide you through common network requirements and asset-specific transaction rules.
- Provide information on potential blockchain network status, where available.
- Suggest alternative solutions or workarounds where applicable.
Atomic Wallet cannot:
- Control external blockchain network congestion or temporary outages.
- Force a transaction through if the underlying blockchain network is rejecting it.
- Recover funds lost due to incorrect destination tags/memos or sending to an unsupported address on an external wallet.
- Change or waive network transaction fees, as these are determined by the blockchain network, not Atomic Wallet.
